In our last post we talked about solving subtraction problems using the vertical method with and without regrouping. Sometimes when we need to solve subtraction problems in everyday life, like when we are shopping, we do not always have a pencil and piece of paper handy.
In the last few weeks we have been learning a variety of different strategies that we can use to solve subtraction problems in our heads.
Here are the strategies we have learnt:
Have you used these strategies before?
What strategy do you think you use the most and why?
How has learning these strategies helped you to understand subtraction?
They are some great strategies for solving subtraction problems. I will definitely share these with my class tomorrow. Thankyou for sharing your great ideas.

Hi Kyla,
ReplyDeleteI did upload the strategies we have been working on. :-)
But you forgot to answer the questions from the post!
Just in case you missed them, they were-
Have you used these strategies before?
What strategy do you think you use the most and why?
How has learning these strategies helped you to understand subtraction?
Looking forward to your response,
Miss Spink
Hello Miss Spink,
ReplyDeleteUp until now i had never used those stratergies or even heard of them. Now that i do them i have found it way more easier to solve subtraction and it has given me lots of choices that Iget to pick from.I think i use the compensation stratergy the most because it is not easy but it is not hard. It is great and it gets a little challenging. Learning these stratergies has helped me to use subtraction by letting me have choices to chose from so i dont get bord of doing subtraction. Now from been doing all of these stratergies, i know many differant things.
Bye for now,
